Whether you’re a non-coder who prefers visual tools or a developer ready to write code, DE Africa provides multiple pathways to suit your needs.</p>
<p>Understanding these access options is crucial for efficiently working with DE Africa’s satellite imagery and geospatial products across the continent. We’ll introduce no-code options like web-based GIS portals, direct data access methods for GIS software, and programmatic approaches, including the DE Africa Sandbox and the ODC–STAC library. By the end of this session, you’ll be equipped to choose the best access route for your specific goals and confidently navigate the DE Africa platform.</p>

<p>By the end of this session, you should be able to:</p>

<li><strong>Identify</strong> the four main ways to access DE Africa data: <strong>Web GIS</strong>, <strong>Direct Access</strong>, <strong>ODC–STAC</strong>, and <strong>Sandbox</strong>, and understand what each entails.</li>
<li><strong>Decide</strong> which access pathway to use for a given situation (no-code vs. low-code vs. full-code scenarios).</li>
<li><strong>Use</strong> the DE Africa <strong>Web GIS</strong> interface to browse data layers, visualise products, and perform simple analyses (e.g. comparing imagery over time).</li>
<li><strong>Locate and retrieve</strong> DE Africa data via <strong>Direct Access</strong>, including finding data in public cloud storage, understanding data formats (like COGs), and using GIS tools or commands to fetch data.</li>
<li><strong>Query and load</strong> data using<strong> ODC–STAC</strong> in a coding environment by performing basic discovery queries and loading results as analytical-ready datasets.</li>
<li><strong>Answer</strong> assessment questions (in the quiz and knowledge checks) that test your understanding of when and how to use each access method.</li>
