Learn how to map water bodies over time. Here, the participants will be able to: map water bodies using Digital Earth Africa (DE Africa) Maps, obtain statistics of water bodies and export them as csv; map water bodies using Digital Earth Africa Sandbox water bodies notebook, load historical extents and wet surface area timeseries from the DE Africa Waterbodies service, getting a list of available polygons in a given area, select and plot a single polygon and Plot the surface area of the polygon over time. .
This is a self paced learning course and learners will be able to use DE Africa in monitoring water bodies service, which uses over three decades of the Water Observations from Space products and has been generated within the bounds of the HydroSHEDS version 1.1 Land Mask. No prior experience in Earth observations, satellite data, or coding is required. All sessions feature step-by-step instructions and knowledge check quizzes, with the opportunity to achieve certification by passing all tasks.
